Short version: VybeScript is bilingual dictation for English and Spanish on Mac. You choose the dictation language before you record, speak in any app, and get clean text at your cursor. Speech-to-text runs on your Mac, the app interface is fully available in Spanish, and a free Spanish/Miami word pack spells South Florida names and places correctly. It handles one language per recording; it doesn’t follow you if you switch languages mid-sentence.
At a glance
- Dictation languages: English and Spanish. You pick one before each recording.
- Interface language: separate from dictation. Use the app in Spanish (Settings → Interface language → Español) and dictate in English, or the other way around.
- Spanish speech to text on your Mac: NVIDIA Parakeet (default) or OpenAI Whisper, both on-device. No audio is uploaded, and it works offline.
- Names and places: a free Spanish/Miami word pack corrects things like “brick el” → Brickell and “rodriguez” → Rodríguez.
- Rewrite styles: Clean, Polish and Formal use Apple Intelligence, so they need macOS 26 with it turned on and available in your language and region. Transcription works on any Apple Silicon Mac with macOS 14 or later.
- Price: $99 once, or $39 a year. 30-day money-back guarantee.
How bilingual dictation works in VybeScript
Bilingual dictation in English and Spanish on a Mac comes down to one simple habit: tell VybeScript which language you’re about to speak, then speak. The flow looks like this:
- Choose the dictation language. English or Spanish, before you start recording.
- Record. Press
F6or holdControlto talk (both are customizable), with your cursor in any app: Mail, Outlook, WhatsApp Web, Slack, Notes, Google Docs, Word. - Transcribe on your Mac. Parakeet runs on the Apple Neural Engine; Whisper, if you prefer it, runs on the GPU through Metal.
- Clean up. Pick a style: Raw (verbatim), Clean (removes filler and false starts), Polish (tighter, still your words) or Formal (clear and professional).
- Insert. The text appears where your cursor is. With Accessibility permission it’s typed in directly; without it, it’s copied to your clipboard.
Switching languages is a choice you make between recordings, not something you have to undo afterward. Reply to a Spanish-speaking client in Spanish, switch, then write the internal note in English.
Interface language and dictation language are separate
A lot of bilingual people have a preferred language for menus and settings that isn’t the language they write most in. VybeScript treats them as two independent settings. The whole app is available in Spanish: open Settings → Interface language → Español (in Spanish, Configuración → Idioma de la interfaz). That changes the menus, settings and messages. It doesn’t change what you dictate. You can run the app in Spanish and dictate all day in English, or keep it in English and dictate in Spanish.
The Spanish/Miami word pack
Speech engines often mangle the names that matter most in a bilingual city: street names, neighborhoods, and family names with accents. VybeScript lets you add corrections (what it hears → what you meant) and custom terms, up to 100 words. The free Spanish/Miami word pack gives you a head start:
| What dictation hears | What VybeScript writes |
|---|---|
| brick el | Brickell |
| hi a leah | Hialeah |
| key biscane | Key Biscayne |
| wine wood | Wynwood |
| miami dade | Miami-Dade |
| jose | José |
| rodriguez | Rodríguez |
Corrections work with both speech engines. Add your own clients, streets and coworkers in Settings → Vocabulary, and export the list to share it with your team. If a word keeps coming out wrong, email it to us and you’ll get a fix within 48 hours.
Who uses bilingual dictation
- Miami professionals. Real estate agents, lawyers, accountants and office managers who answer clients in whichever language the client wrote in. The industry word packs (Legal, Real estate, Finance & accounting) sit alongside the Spanish/Miami pack.
- Teams with bilingual clients. Dictate the Spanish follow-up after a call, then the English summary for your CRM. The Team Pack includes a custom vocabulary pack built for your team’s names and terms.
- Families. Long messages to relatives in Spanish, school emails in English, without hunting for accent keys.
- Anyone who thinks faster than they type in their second language. Speaking is often easier than typing correct spelling and accents, and Clean or Polish tidies up the false starts.
Why on-device matters here
Bilingual messages are often the personal ones: a client’s immigration paperwork, a family medical update, a deal in progress. VybeScript records, transcribes and rewrites on your Mac. There’s no account, no analytics SDK, and the app doesn’t read your screen. The only network connections are license activation, update checks and the one-time speech-model download (about 470 MB). Turn Wi-Fi off and dictation works the same. Read more about offline dictation on Mac.
Limitations, and when another option is better
To be straight about it:
- One language per recording. You choose English or Spanish before you record. If you mix both in the same sentence (“Spanglish”), VybeScript transcribes everything as the language you picked, so the other language’s words may come out wrong. For mixed speech, split it into separate recordings.
- Only English and Spanish. If you also need Portuguese, French or Haitian Creole, look at apps that support 100+ languages, such as Superwhisper or Wispr Flow, or Apple’s built-in Dictation, which is free and processes many languages on-device on Apple Silicon.
- Rewrite styles depend on Apple Intelligence. Clean, Polish and Formal need macOS 26 with Apple Intelligence on and available in your language and region. Without it, transcription is just as accurate and you still get basic filler removal.
- Mac only. VybeScript needs an Apple Silicon Mac. There’s no Windows, iPhone or Android version.
