VybeScript says microphone access is required
Quick fix
In VybeScript, choose Allow Microphone. macOS asks once. Say yes to the prompt.
If the button says Open Microphone Settings instead, macOS already has an answer saved. Turn it on in System Settings, as below.
Step by step
- In VybeScript, choose Open Microphone Settings. Or open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone yourself.
- Find VybeScript in the list and switch it on.
- Go back to VybeScript. The status next to Microphone changes from Required to Allowed. It updates by itself within a moment.
- In the setup guide, press Recheck if the status has not updated.
VybeScript only listens while you are recording. Your audio stays on your Mac.
Where to see the status
- During setup: the Mic step.
- Any time: Settings > Recording, in the Microphone row.
Still not working?
- macOS only shows its permission prompt once. If you said no before, the prompt will not come back, so use the steps above.
- On a Mac managed by a company or school, an administrator may block microphone access. VybeScript cannot override that.
- If VybeScript is switched on and still cannot record, see My microphone isn't working.
