Troubleshooting

Text doesn't paste after I dictate

Quick fix

When automatic paste is off or blocked, VybeScript copies your text to the clipboard instead. Press Command+V in the app you were typing in and your words appear. To make it paste on its own, turn on Accessibility for VybeScript.

Step by step

  1. Open VybeScript and go to Settings. Find the Delivery card and look at Automatic paste. If it says Clipboard fallback, Accessibility is off.
  2. Click Enable Paste. macOS opens System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility.
  3. Turn on VybeScript in the list.
  4. Go back to VybeScript and click Recheck Permissions. Automatic paste should now say Enabled.
  5. Click in the text field where you want your words, then dictate again.

Other reasons the text is only copied

The status line in VybeScript tells you which one applies.

  • Click in the target app before recording. VybeScript did not know where to put the text. Click into a text field first, then dictate.
  • Could not bring [app name] forward. VybeScript could not bring the app you were using to the front. Click into it and press Command+V.
  • Could not insert into [app name]. VybeScript could not put the text into that app. Click into the field and press Command+V.
  • Password field detected, so nothing was typed. VybeScript does not type into password fields. Press Command+V yourself if you really want the text there. You can also see this message when that app has macOS secure input turned on.
  • The active app changed, so nothing was pasted. You switched apps before the text was ready. Go back and press Command+V.
  • Could not confirm the paste. The text is on the clipboard. Press Command+V if it did not appear.

Still not working?

If Accessibility already shows VybeScript as on but the status stays at Clipboard fallback, click Recheck Permissions, then choose Quit from the Vybe menu in your menu bar and open VybeScript again. If it still says Clipboard fallback, send us a report: see Send a diagnostics report. If a particular app never takes the text, see which apps work.
