How do I dictate in Spanish or switch languages?
Quick fix
Pick your language in Recognition Language on the main window: English or Spanish. Then dictate. Change it again whenever you switch languages.
Step by step
Change the language you dictate in
- Open the VybeScript window.
- Under Recognition Language, choose English or Spanish.
- The status reads "Ready for Spanish dictation." (or English).
- Record as usual.
You can also change it in Settings > Transcription > Language.
Choose the language before you record.
Change the language of the app itself
The dictation language and the app's menus and buttons are separate settings.
- Open Settings > Interface language.
- Choose System default, English or Español.
- If a Restart button appears, choose it so the menu bar and system dialogs update too.
When you change your dictation language, VybeScript may offer, one time only, to switch the interface too ("Switch the interface to Spanish too?"). Choose Yes or No thanks.
Tips for Spanish
- In a long Spanish dictation, an English word can occasionally slip in. VybeScript already fixes the most common slips, such as "and" and "in". For a word that keeps coming out wrong, add a fix under Corrections in Vocabulary.
- Add names and terms in Vocabulary so they are spelled your way.
Still not working?
If words come out in the wrong language, check the setting first, then see Transcription is inaccurate.
