What do Raw, Clean, Polish and Formal do?

Details

• Raw: exactly what you said, word for word.
• Clean: removes fillers like "um, uh, you know" and splits long dictation into paragraphs. It keeps your exact words, and it needs no Apple Intelligence.
• Polish: rewrites your dictation into clean prose, with smooth grammar and clear sentences. Still your words. Needs Apple Intelligence.
• Formal: rewrites your dictation in a formal tone, with bullets, steps and paragraphs where they fit. Needs Apple Intelligence.

Where to change it

• The Writing Style picker in the main window.
• Settings > Transcription > Writing style.

What Polish and Formal need

The Polish and Formal rewrite uses Apple Intelligence, which runs on your Mac. It works in English and Spanish. You need macOS 26 or later with Apple Intelligence turned on in System Settings (look for the Apple Intelligence settings). Apple Intelligence also has to be available in your language and region.

If it is not available, VybeScript uses basic cleanup instead. Fillers and repeated words are still removed, but the wording is not rewritten for grammar or tone. Lists, bullets, numbered steps and email layout still work without Apple Intelligence, because VybeScript builds them with simple rules on your Mac. Transcription is just as accurate.

When Polish or Formal is selected, the main window shows Apple Intelligence or Basic cleanup next to the picker. Settings > Transcription shows whether Apple Intelligence is ready.

Polish and Formal can lay out your text

In these two styles you can also choose a layout such as email, chat, notes or document. See Format as.
