Why did VybeScript check my Mac's speed?
Short answer
Right after you activate, VybeScript runs a short one-time speed check, local transcription and, where available, polishing of a sample clip. It rates your Mac Fast, Good or Basic, based on transcription speed and your Mac's memory, so you know what dictation will feel like. It stays on your Mac.
Details
While it runs you will see "Calibrating for your Mac…". If you were already activated when this version arrived, it runs once the next time you open the app. The result shows in Settings under Performance, with the Tier, an estimate of the time per 50 words, your Mac's chip, memory and the time of the last scan. Open Details for the timings.
To run it again:
- Open the main VybeScript window (menu bar icon, then Show VybeScript) and go to Settings.
- Find the Performance card.
- Click Re-run Scan. If it never ran, the button says Run Scan.
The check times the Whisper speech engine, so treat the rating as a rough guide. Close other heavy apps first for a fairer result.
