Polish and Formal say they're unavailable
Quick fix
Polish and Formal rewrite your dictation into clean prose or a formal tone with Apple Intelligence, which runs on your Mac. If it is off or not ready, VybeScript falls back to basic cleanup. Lists, bullets and email layout keep working. Turn on Apple Intelligence in System Settings (this needs macOS 26 or later), wait for it to finish setting up, then try again.
Step by step
- In VybeScript, open Settings and look at Apple Intelligence on the Transcription card. It says On, ready or Unavailable (basic cleanup). Under Writing style, VybeScript also shows the reason, with an Open Settings button when the fix is in System Settings (or Open Software Update if macOS is too old) and a Check again button.
- Check the three requirements, in this order:
- A Mac with Apple Silicon.
- macOS 26 or later. If your macOS is older, update it in System Settings > General > Software Update.
- Apple Intelligence turned on in System Settings (look for the Apple Intelligence settings).
- If the message says Apple Intelligence is still downloading its model, wait and try again shortly. If it says Turn on Apple Intelligence to use Polish and Formal, turn it on as above.
- If it says Apple Intelligence isn't supported on this Mac, Polish and Formal cannot run on this Mac.
- Come back to VybeScript. The status updates when you return to the app, or when you click Check again.
What you still get without it
Transcription works the same. Raw and Clean are not affected. Polish and Formal fall back to basic cleanup: fillers like "um" and repeated words are removed, but the wording is not rewritten for grammar or tone. Lists, bullets, numbered steps and email layout still work without Apple Intelligence.

Apple Intelligence also has to be available in your language and region. If the message says Apple Intelligence is unavailable right now, wait a little and click Check again.
