My license key won't activate

Step by step

Read the red message under the key field, then find it below. VybeScript ignores spaces at the start and end of the key, but not spaces inside it. When the license service sends its own error text, the red message can read differently from the ones below; the fixes are the same.

1. "Couldn’t reach the license server. Check your internet connection and try again." Connect to the internet and try again. Activation always needs a connection.
2. "That license key could not be activated. Check the key, or your activation limit may be reached." Check the key for typos. If it is correct, the key may already be active on its maximum number of Macs. On a Mac you no longer use, open License… and click Deactivate this Mac, then try again here. See Move my license to a new Mac. Sometimes the license service sends its own wording instead, such as a key-not-found or limit-reached message. The fixes are the same.
3. "This license key is for a different product, not this app." (or, when VybeScript re-checks a key it already stored, "This license key is for a different product.") The key belongs to another product. Check your email for the VybeScript key.
4. "Your Yearly Pass has expired. Renew it to keep using VybeScript." Your Yearly Pass is past its end date. See Yearly renewal and cancelling.
5. "This license key has been disabled." The key was turned off. A refund, for example, turns off the key. Email us at hello@boxcreativestudio.com with your purchase email.
6. "A trial has already been used on this Mac. Choose a plan to keep dictating." or "This trial has ended. Choose a plan to keep dictating." Only one trial runs per Mac. Choose a plan in the License window. See How the free trial works.
7. "A paid license is already active on this Mac, so a trial key isn’t needed." You entered a trial key while a paid license is active. Nothing to fix.
8. "Couldn’t verify your license offline. Reconnect to the internet and try again." VybeScript could not reach the license service, and its 14-day offline allowance has run out or the reply could not be trusted. Connect to the internet and it will check again.
9. "Your license is no longer valid." The license service no longer accepts the key. Email us.
